Terms of Use

Last updated: October 1, 2026

The short version: it's odds, not an announcement. Your school district decides. You pay once through Apple, and Apple's standard license covers the rest. The longer version is below.

Agreement

By downloading or using Snow Day (the “App”), published by LoRicco & Co LLC (“we”), you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). If they conflict, these terms control for the matters they cover.

What the App is

Snow Day estimates the odds that there's no in-person school (closed or remote) on a given school day in the town you pick. It combines weather forecasts, climate normals and weather alerts from Apple Weather (alerts are issued by the National Weather Service) into a number from 3 to 97%, with a one-liner and a snowman.

It's not official

Not official — your district decides. Snow Day isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any school, school district, government agency or the National Weather Service. It doesn't know what your superintendent will decide, and the odds are informational and for entertainment. Weather forecasts can be wrong, and districts close, delay or open for reasons no forecast sees.

Always follow your school or district's own announcements. Do the homework, set the alarm, and get to the bus unless your district says otherwise. We aren't responsible for a missed bus, a missed test, an unfinished assignment, a trip you made or didn't make, or any other decision you make based on the App.

Don't rely on the App for safety decisions about travel or severe weather. For those, follow the National Weather Service and local officials.

Price and purchase

  • Snow Day is a paid app: $2.99 (US) once, through the App Store. Prices in other regions are set by Apple and shown before you buy.
  • There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
  • Payment is handled by Apple. Refunds follow Apple's policies and are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
  • You can reinstall the App on devices signed in to the same Apple Account at no extra charge.

Weather data

Weather data in the App is provided by Apple Weather and modified by Snow Day to produce its odds. Apple Weather data and trademarks belong to Apple; see Apple's data sources and attribution. Weather alerts are issued by the National Weather Service. We don't run any of these services. If one is down or changes, parts of the App may stop working until we can fix it. How your information is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Don't reverse engineer, resell, or interfere with the App, and don't use it in a way that breaks the law or Apple's terms. Share cards you create are yours to post wherever you like; please leave the “Not official” line on them.

No warranty; limitation of liability

The App and its odds are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any warranty that the odds will match what your district does. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any amount exceeding what you paid for the App. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes and termination

We may update the App or these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. We may discontinue the App at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
